Is your coffee ethically sourced?
Yes. Every coffee we offer is sourced through direct vetted importers who prioritize farms that pay living wages, practice sustainable agriculture, and protect
biodiversity.
Where does your coffee come from?
We source single origin beans from the
world's premier coffee-growing regions, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia,
Guatemala, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Indonesia. Every coffee is traceable to the
farm, cooperative, or washing station of origin. You can find the specific region, altitude, varietal, and processing method on the site for every coffee we sell.
What's the difference between light, medium, and dark roast?
Light roasts preserve the bean's origin characteristics which is the best
representation of the true flavor of a specific bean. Medium roasts balance origin flavor with developed sweetness and body, hitting chocolate, nut, and caramel notes. Dark
roasts tend to lose the character of the origin flavor and embody more
roast-driven flavors including smoke, bittersweet chocolate, and bold body. There is no right or wrong. It all comes down to preference.
How do I store whole bean coffee to keep it fresh?
Store beans in an airtight, opaque
container at room temperature away from light, heat, moisture, and air. Do not
refrigerate!
What is the ideal coffee-to-water ratio?
A 1:15 to 1:18 ratio is a standard recommendation meaning 1 gram of coffee for every 15 to 18 grams of water. For a standard pour over, start with 20g of coffee to 320g of water (1:16) and adjust to taste. Use a digital scale for consistency as volumetric scoops can lead to inconsistent dosing.
What are the best grind settings for my coffee ?
Grind size plays a major role in flavor
extraction. Use these as your starting points:
- Espresso: Fine (like table salt)
- Moka pot: Fine to medium-fine
- Pour over: Medium-fine to medium
- Drip coffee maker: Medium
- French press: Coarse (like sea
salt) - Cold brew: Extra coarse
A burr grinder is best for getting the most
our of your coffee. Blade grinders can
be uneven which can lead to inconsistent flavor.
What is the best whole bean coffee for home brewing?
The best whole bean coffee depends on your brew method and flavor preference. For pour over and drip, look for light to medium roast single origin beans that
highlight bright, nuanced flavors. For espresso, medium to medium-dark roasts
with body and sweetness work best. For French press and cold brew, you can
utilize any roast profile. Always buy whole bean and grind it fresh. Coffee loses over half of its aroma within 15
minutes of grinding.
How fresh is your coffee when it ships?
We roast when you order and never before.
Your beans ship within 48 hours of roasting so they will arrive at peak flavor. It will smell amazing when you open the box!
What makes single origin coffee different from a blend?
Single origin coffee comes from one specific country, region, or even a single farm or estate meaning you taste the unique terroir of that place. Blends combine beans
from multiple origins to create a consistent, balanced flavor profile, while
single origins showcase distinct, often complex characteristics. For coffee
enthusiasts who want to explore flavor, single origin is the way to go.
