Where It Starts

Yirgacheffe is a special coffee. Not only is it a nicely balanced and flavorful coffee, but it also reflects hundreds of years of coffee growing and processing expertise that contribute to the end result. This traditionally washed coffee is hand processed and then sun dried on raised beds until reaching the perfect moisture content. Super versatile in any coffee format, this is a must-try coffee for any coffee lover.

Why this coffee was selected

As we launched Black Circle Coffee Roasters earlier this year, we wanted to be sure to highlight a coffee from Ethiopia which is the birthplace of coffee. Selecting the Yirgacheffe region was a no brainer as one of the most revered coffees in the world. We medium roast it to perfection and the result is a well balanced and bold flavor profile.

Ethiopia is where coffee started..literally. Yirgacheffe is a prized coffee due to the quality and the unique terroir that you can taste in every sip. Small farms in the Gedeo Zone partner with the Chelchele washing station which has a reputation as of processing some of the best coffees in the world.

Small farms partner with the Chelchele washing station in Banko Chelchele to produce some of the finest and cleanest coffees in the world. A rich history of coffee cultivation has been a cornerstone to this region for centuries and fertile clay soil and native shade trees make this area ideal for cultivating fantastic balanced coffees.

Roaster's Notes

Yirgacheffe can be enjoyed in all formats. It is really well balanced and stands up on its own and it makes a bold and flavorful espresso or brew. I typically drink this as a long black so it isnt as watered down as an Americano but I can still sip it.
